Last Principal's Letter

Retirement Speech to the Parent Community

Good day everyone,

As I stand before you today, filled with gratitude and reflection, I find it hard to believe that the time has come for me to say goodbye—not just as your principal, but as someone who has been deeply honoured to be part of this incredible school community- parents and children

After 39 years in education, and 12 years as principal of Rand Park Primary, I am stepping into retirement with a full heart. This journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. And while I look forward to what lies ahead, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the people who have made this experience so meaningful: you, the parents and guardians of our students.

Your partnership has been the cornerstone of everything we’ve achieved. A strong school is built not just on academics, policies, and programs—but on relationships. And the trust you've placed in us to educate and care for your children has been a privilege I’ve never taken lightly.

We’ve shared proud moments—award ceremonies, concerts, sports events, graduations—and we’ve stood together during challenging times (Covid), supporting one another with compassion and resilience. Whether it was navigating new educational approaches, responding to unexpected crises, or simply cheering from the sidelines, your presence and involvement have always made a difference.

I have always believed that education is a shared journey. It begins at home, is nurtured in the classroom, and is strengthened by a community that values growth, respect, and curiosity. Together, we have built a culture where children feel seen, heard, and empowered to thrive.

To those of you I've worked with for years—and to those newer to our school—thank you for your support, your feedback, your patience, and above all, your belief in our shared mission.

As I retire, I leave knowing that the future is bright. This school is in good hands—with dedicated staff, a clear vision, and a parent community that continues to be engaged and supportive.

Though I’m stepping away from the day-to-day, I will always carry with me the memories, the friendships, and the lessons learned. I am proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I am excited to watch the continued growth and success of this remarkable school- Rand Park Primary

From the bottom of my heart—thank you.

Warmest regards,

Nic Pienaar
